Striking matches, we burn to a cinder
Floating high
Absorbed in the night sky


On a darkened platform, I see you waiting
Standing as if you’re advertising your soul
You’re scanning this big area
Where harsh lights cut precise shadows
There's a distance trapped in your eyes
How I wish I could fill that void
I continue to stare
As…
A wisp of mist separates us

I run haphazardly
Ripping my clothes on rusty railings
…. My heels echoing throughout this station
You catch my movements
Within me burns a hunger
I’m filled with nervous anxiety
Pushing up and out

This is a birthing
A coming good (or so I hope)
The place we’ve begun
The recognition
Of one another’s apparent misplacement ….(and of a)
Real life desire for fulfilment
An eagerness to confide

You follow
Steadily, purposely
Your mind fixed, outwardly seen as one dimensional
There’s an inner spark…
Just one of a thousand endorphins exploding
It’s the thrill of the chase
The lust of flesh
Almost like panic
Could be a future epic

And I know that there's a meaning
Beyond such flesh
I want something different, more than feeling
Permanence
Beyond the grip of your caress
Into realms only dreamed of
Oh the aching!
I want all of it … everything

Suddenly, my breathing falters
I'm afraid of losing you
Yet too afraid to reach for you
I twist to see

Scared…

You’re there stretching for me
I can see that distance within you
It deepens
Swallowing this little universe
Consuming us together

I step back
Into swaying nettles
Falling
Back into time
Out of frame
Screaming
Concealed from view
