You Would Think

You may think I've lots of friends & laughter in the air,
Glowing recommendations, as if life’s biasedly "fair".
If you saw my mask, shining so bright,
You’d picture a life filled with pure delight.

If you glimpsed at my earnings, numbers a bit bold,
You'd imagine my journey was paved in f'ing gold.
With bills always settled, no troubles in sight,
As if every day I dance in pure light.

My house, gleaming in a modestly wealthy glow,
You think, "high life", but you really dont know.
You'd think I probably wear the latest flair,
With "Cali girl" charm and style beyond compare.

You'd assume I had men at my feet...life: a dream,
Oh, but things are not as they seem.
Beneath this facade, the truth is concealed,
My heart is full of struggles & only in silence revealed.

And oh, dear onlooker, you’d miss the true song,
Riches hardly shield from where I came from.
Behind all the glimmer, there’s more than it seems,
My tapestry woven with hurt, poverty, and dreams.

Fancy things and smiles can sometimes deceive,
But in the real world, life is not as it seems.

Author's Note
In the end, I will use my position to lift the little ones from the life I came from...for now, I'm still trying to impress those affluent enough to get me there.
Even so, I am scarcely more than the world I came from.

Assume if you must, judge if you must...but know I am probably not what you think.
