Sway
When you are on the 57th floor
of a Los Angeles office tower
during an earthquake,
the building will sway.
And it will scare the shit out of you.
Buildings are supposed to be strong and stable
Swaying makes you lose the Earth.
But sway is survival,
preventing a sudden violent death
of concrete glass and twisted steel.
Anything can fall apart.
But you don't.
After a horrible day
few seconds without stress,
your coworkers see you sway.
It scares them.
But sway has its own beauty.
It's you
looking out that 57th floor window
and choosing to see tomorrow.
