covet

the day covet her need in the blackened debauchery of essence
it pooled around her in great cloaks of smoke and shadows
purring quietly to herself she reached to caress one of her beloved familiars a great gargoyle of intelligence
he'd spied a weakling down below
he whispered in her ear
about the perspective prey
and her fangs descended
then grew sharp with hunger
he gently admonished
soon Mistress Dark and took flight
with the other hunters who reddened the sky
as they swoop down
and tear the creature from the earth
screeching in victory as they go
later sating his Mistresses desires
they sacrifice on the altar of the damned
then purifying herself in the ancient pools of renewal
she would retain her youth
still she felt forlorn over the still life she had taken
who turn to ash and was carried away on the wind
Lucifer enters and questions what have you been up to my dear
she covers herself and tries to avoid eye contact
because Lucifer with one glance into her soulful eyes can read her mind her eyes glaze over and he knows she is preparing a lie
I have been tending to the wayward leading them into gehenna
or the common grave
he claims not to believe her
so many stand at the wailing wall grieving the way to perdition
and are granted pardon for their acts of contrition
really my dear I don't think i need you
I have given renewed life to your broken children
and purpose to their existence
you are free to return to your dalliances
really you don't interest me
the men gather for a feast we each dream of something different
something innocent and you are a liability
your magic faulty there is someone new
on the air whose magics are traceless I will access her purity myself soon
too bad it isn't a he person but I hear tell she can shapeshift producing the fiercest of warriors I shall test his skills on the battlefield
really I am intrigued Lucifer exits
and Lilith is crest fallen she thinks to seduce this interloper
before Lucifer sways him his way.
then the men come from the shadows and say back witch sit this one out.
