Elysian Afternoons

It seemed like Olympus in a cloud form  
busting up in the sunset silver west  
after a couple days of mild storm  
which gardeners and gardens know is best  
for a late July renaissance of blooms;  
a last minute resurrection of hope  
for desiccating yard biota dooms  
in drouthy dog day pollinator scope  
under a sky regatta of Zephyrs  
slowly prying apart the marbled puffs  
drifting above the dairyland heifers  
and putting greens amid the fairway ruffs,  
steeped now, in Arcadian breezes blown,  
as heavenly as starlet kisses sown.
