Their Numbers Don't Make Sense and since they aren't the band the Talking Heads, Maybe They Should?

I would like to think I am not a sheep
blindly following the Democratic label  
more than one occasion  
I have rejected voting for a donkey  
even for president (1996 voted for dad)
 
The Republican Party illustrates why  
math is vital for more than ever  
they disregard the basics with numbers  
in their quest to destroy  
what has been the foundation  
for advancement for all people  
 
Lets start with the venom directed  
toward Barack Obama  
even if you don't like the dude
we should all reject the notion  
of forced childhood labor  
yes?
 
Obama was born in 1961: even those saying  
he was born in Africa don't dismiss the date  
"1.000 US military advisors sent in 1959
23,000 in 1964,
after the Gulf of Tonkin in 64, 184,000 troops  
over 2,700,000 serving by war's end"
 
So when MAGA disciples declare  
Obama was unpatriotic for not serving  
suggest that Obama should have participated  
are they telling us a boy not even 10  
should have been in the armed services  
disregard the 1938 Fair Labor Standards?
 
We know they reject the idea that Trump  
lost the election in 2020
despite the certainty that  
state lawmakers who were registered GOPers  
confirmed that Biden won the election  
that the assertion of widespread voter fraud was false  
 
Trump's rhetoric about Mexico "paying for a wall"
is so blatantly false that not even  
Republican governors who wanted to leave the union  
talk about this anymore  
and they ignore geography in declaring  
that every inch of the border requires a structure  
 
Then the absurdity of rhetoric indicating  
"thousands of people from insane asylums,
murderers, killers, rapist, and drug dealers "
represent everyone who crosses the Southern border  
ignoring the trend away from permanent institutions  
housing those identified as mentally ill  
 
Also in effect stereotyping whole bunches of humans  
many of whom do labor  
that the average US citizen won't do
the employment with the lowest wages
horrible working conditions and benefits  
and the biggest negative impacts of health  
 
Now Trump suggests tariffs  
of 200 and 400% on goods made from outside the US
ignoring our own history when numbers reach those levels  
and contradicting their own value of capitalism  
unfettered and in the fast lane  
free from such punitive measures  
 
Then to top it off dismantling the bedrock  
of the public education system  
the concept of education provided to all  
citizens without regard for income  
the utter fallacy of privatization  
and a complete voucher system  
 
All studies indicate that even providing all parents  
with payments for tuition would not suffice  
we don't even have the capacity to serve 50%  
of the students if the  
demand for private schooling  
reached that level  
 
Everything I have seen suggests that tuition alone  
isn't the only consideration involved  
what about transportation  
we already have gaps based on where people reside  
compare funding for Santa Barbara Unified  
with that Live Oak Elementary or Plumas Lake  
 
So when the MAGA crowd rattles off
their slogans and speeches about  
how to make the country number once again  
kindly direct one question to those folks  
don't have to be a brainiac  
but do they know how to count
