Angel of My Lyceum Dreams
Angel of My Lyceum Dreams
Caravansary of souls
Where my tender sprout of youth
Lived after the steam of tears
Misted into ghosts in the crystal ball
Of a womanly vision
For my future dream
Of return to the lost carousel
Of the doctorate dreams
I’d left for dead
The corpse of a hope
So long on life support
Whose plug I’d pulled
Until her ebony magic
Gave me CPR
And she breathed life
Into my bleeding heart
When she unlocked my door
And walked into my darkened room
Catching me in a state of undress
And in my vulnerable nakedness
She apologized for letting herself in
When I was disrobed
But she didn’t miss a beat and took her seat
While I frantically zipped my denim
And with her smoky mezzo-soprano
She could have sold me
Madame Curie’s skin-glow lotion for eternal radiance
Caravansary of souls
Where my tender sprout of youth
Lived after the steam of tears
Misted into ghosts in the crystal ball
Of a womanly vision
For my future dream
Of return to the lost carousel
Of the doctorate dreams
I’d left for dead
The corpse of a hope
So long on life support
Whose plug I’d pulled
Until her ebony magic
Gave me CPR
And she breathed life
Into my bleeding heart
When she unlocked my door
And walked into my darkened room
