I Dream of Jeannie

Beautiful woman in a harem dress
Released out of her bottle
Tony Nelson in need of SOS

Tony took her home, she was a kind and generous genie
She fell for Tony instantly
She told him her name is Jeannie

Major Nelson was humble and not at all greedy
Jeannie wanted to give him the world
The opposite of his friend Roger Healey

Major Healey was very good friends with Tony
He let him in on his little secret
He didn’t believe it, until one day he said, show me

Jeannie appeared before his eyes
Roger had a list of luxuries he wanted
Tony said No!, Roger was surprised

Major Nelson said it’s dangerous, it can ruin our careers
Remember we work in NASA
Understand Roger, Am I reaching you loud & clear?

Dr. Bellows was their superior and knew they were sane men
Jeannie would fumble or cause some hi-jinx
Healey & Nelson needed to explain time & time again

Bizarre situations plagued them all the time
Dr. Bellows would report the news to General Schaeffer
Jeannie would fix, everything seemed fine

Certain episodes featured Jeannie's evil twin Jeannie
A brunette who always tried to steal Major Nelson
She was cunning, smarter, manipulative & a meanie

Jeannie technically never existed until Season 5
Tony asked to marry her
She was in disbelief, this began the shows demise

There were some good episodes but the energy disappeared
During 1970, ratings were taking a dive
The show was cancelled later that year

There’s been an ongoing debate which show was greater
Was it I Dream of Jeannie or Bewitched
That’s like comparing a Croc to an Alligator

My heart has been with Jeannie since watching the reruns during my youth
Bewitched was to stuffy & conservative
Elizabeth Montgomery was a bitch, that’s the honest truth

At 92 years old Barbara Eden is still alive
Wrote a book two years back
Sadly the rest of the crew has died
