Energy In Our Hands
sometimes our fists ball
yet brains are square
so we hug it out
sometimes our hands shake
yet our feet are steady
so we walk it off
sometimes our hands are callous
yet hearts are soft
so we build it up
we push out 🖊️ pen-ance for peace
or we just release
what words can’t fully express
hands close to our chest
or like a bulletproof vest
praying together or stretched
outward to bless
to cradle our nest
to “fight the power” of unrest
to point at the sun as it sets
sometimes our hands are frail
yet family is strong
so we read the lifeline of our palms
on the page of our children’s chapter
pat ourselves on the back
if there’s no applause after
we pass the torch
we hold onto memories
pressed between our fingers
we paint our nails the color of our spirit
we motion to the mighty
this is our sign to the silent
our language to the listening
raise your hand if you feel this
