Ode To Caffeine
When I first heard of you, I didn't know what to expect
There were whispers and discussions and yet…
I was not tempted until that day
You had an accomplice
He said “why don't you try a dopio?”
“A dopio?”
“It's a double shot espresso
it's the only way I keep going for the day
I'm telling you you're gonna feel things you have never felt before”
I thought about it and decided
It's time to stop playing these games and just give you a shot
I went out and paid and had you in my hands
I still looked at you with trepidation
but it's time that this body of mine
Give in to this anticipation
I took you down in one swallow
Because I'm good like that
At least I thought I was good like that
Until you decided to kick back
My world was opened with the eyes a glaze
Ran through my work as if my ass was ablaze
from that day on I was hooked
It's gotten so bad
they got my name on the books
They just see my face and know who I'm there for
Caffeine, oh caffeine.
Why couldn't you just let me walk out the door
We had our fights and disagreements you see
There was times I couldn't even open an eye’s from the wallop you gave me
But I keep coming back wanting the punishment you dole out
I'm thinking all these thoughts while I'm swishing you in my mouth
“to be continued”
