Monsters

I'm a baby. In bed at night, to protect myself from monsters, I cover my ear with my blanket. I'm safe as long as my ear is covered. I'm warm and cozy and protected. As long as my feet aren't sticking out of the sheets, ripe for a gnarled, bony hand to grab and pull me over the edge to someplace truly dark and fearful.
