The Anchor

At last I went down to the lake
To bask in this beautiful day
Time to enjoy a well deserved break
And wash life's headaches away

To the lakes middle I row my boat
With my oars I make a splash
I drop the anchor and slowly float
As the ripples gently crash

The warmth of the radiant sun
And massage of the soothing breeze
Reminds me today is the one
To put these crazy thoughts at ease

Alone with tempting thoughts
I reflect there for many hours
Lifes lessons I've been taught
Those reflections will soon devour

As the darkness slowly settles
It's finally that time to go
My demons have my life unsettled
Retrieve the anchor from below

The stability of the anchor
To calm life's nightmaric storm
This weighted shackle is my answer
As my lucid dreams transform

I tied the anchor to my neck
The consequences I ignored
The twisted knots were double checked
My next life has my faith restored

Feeling the weight of my life lift
Slowly as I am sinking down
This death is my personal gift
Finally at peace as I drown
