Image for the poem Onion Peels

Onion Peels

I am like a humble onion
layers of me with secrets
sometimes I make me cry
and at times just peel and dry

there are layers interlaced
each one an honest reflection
of  a piece of experiences past
a library of intricate emotions

the skin is a shield of protection
against those with bad intention
away from nosy prying eyes
within the core my true self lies
