Anxious Poetics
Spun of sugared fables and salted truths
I can easily fall prey to Anxiety's
penitent thoughts.
Watching monochrome yesterday's
and the million tomorrow's
that already haunt.
Feeding Melancholy laughter and smiles
in avoidance of cursed uncertainty
to be Apathy's pitiful child.
Becoming Happy's pretty 'lil liar
while living on stale breaths of courage
'til the taut corset of butterflies flee.
I can easily fall prey to Anxiety's
penitent thoughts.
Watching monochrome yesterday's
and the million tomorrow's
that already haunt.
Feeding Melancholy laughter and smiles
in avoidance of cursed uncertainty
to be Apathy's pitiful child.
Becoming Happy's pretty 'lil liar
while living on stale breaths of courage
'til the taut corset of butterflies flee.

I must confess that a taut butterfly corset is definitely something I would be tempted to look into, depending on who was modeling it.
Seriously though, reality must be faced, especially when it is unpleasant.
Awesome analysis of observable behaviors:)

Your commentary brought me some much needed giggles because this poem has absolutely NOTHING to do with wearing corsets🤭

Thank you ever kindly...
I can take them a little too far at times so I'm glad you think so.

Deeply passionate and gorgeously metaphorical journey into your heart and soul. There is so much here to love. It gripped me int a deep poetic trance. I am so glad you came back here. I missed these masterpieces of yours.

The picture and tail end of your poem raised a rhyming comment in my mind:
When the butterflies flee,
so goes my anxiety.
When the butterflies flee,
so goes my anxiety.
