The uneducated poet

Dearest Zazzy,

These words are mirrors of truths. You know I met a man once who was illiterate. He came from a very small rural village. Though he was a poet, he spoke the words and boy....when he did his soul was aflame.
Regardless of this annecdote its true sis, one should continue ringing that bell. Im all for it!!!

Hello dearest Rianne ♥️ that makes sense. For me it’s more about the lack of an English degree in creative writing as opposed to not being educated at all, and more the thought that poetry is unique to each writer and readers.

Yes exactly. I have no formal training in writing or poetry, and yet I like to think I am not just a writer of stories but also a poet too :) personally i find prose a much better expression of poetry as opposed to rhyme schemes . Although some poets that do always rhyme can truly portray a sort of magical effect whereby the readers are left in awe simply because the poem rhymes .

Some of the greatest poetry I have ever read comes from uneducated poets. Poetry to me is an expression of the heart, and the only thing that educates the heart is experience. In this sense we are all educated poets. Formal education is good if you want to achieve a certain effect, but for expressing what is in your heart at the moment you write it is not necessary at all.

When I first started writing and posting poems, I was always surprised at the different interpretations of what I wrote. I wondered if I should tell them what I meant, but someone who had more experience told me not to. Let them see things the way they want. Everyone has something they may see that others don't. So...I let them. As a result, I see things in what I wrote in a way i never thought of through others interpretations. I think that's a cool thing about writing.
