Green with Gratitude - NaPoWriMo 5

Previously,
I lambasted Japan
For it’s lack of Greenery;
sparse leafy hedges and trees
in the suburbs
With parks that feature
mostly rocks
and a flowing stream,
Far too urbanised for my tastes.

But then I went to a
Promenade beside a river
Where Cherry Blossom trees
Flanked the path,
And I understood;
Japan’s lack of verdant greenery
only goes to heighten their
Appreciation of nature,
For the few and far between places and spaces.

While England,
The Green and Pleasant land
is festooned with hedges and trees
with flowers below
whether in gardens
Or stubbornly through pavement,
And Grass is abundant.

Nature finds a way to be beautiful,
I am fortunate that my homeland
Has it in plenty.
