Image for the poem Looking Glass

Looking Glass

delicately imbuing the indigo flowers...dream
silently escaping the exhale of stars
who draw upon kindness as if if were food and they were craven

with an open and honest heart, I believed
but like a thief, you revealed your betrayal
your body is filth in the mocking rain

my life is not a game to me
kind of nature and slow-to-temper
the temperament wind spells time

searching the skies for untoward devices
meant to steal a soul
spying on my crave

I look for a sane place to rest
while you come at me sideways as any harlot would
eating off your worn looks
broken but not beaten I defend my right

whores of the leaden path have given me passive-aggressive tips before
they found their way as litter on the highway
I won't come down from my seat

imploring the dark to rest
asking the polite light to send karmic waves
through the eve and daytime too
and mourn for the garden no more
