Writing Dirty is Cathartic
It’s like screaming
Dropping f bombs
Going for a long run
Expressing myself
Through dirty poetry
Purges thoughts
I’d rather not keep
Locked inside
DUP is my safe space
To give my internal
And external world
A voice
My healing journey
Of restoration
And renewal
I spent too many
Years hiding
From the me
I am today
Afraid of shame
Cowering to social pressure
I’ve been told
I can do better
Much better
That I’m capable
Of more
I’m aware of what
I’m capable of
Thank you
Very much
I do me better
Than anyone else
I got this
I function much better
When I express
(rather than suppress)
In the manner
That I choose
It’s a matter of survival
And
It feels
Fucking awesome
Dropping f bombs
Going for a long run
Expressing myself
Through dirty poetry
Purges thoughts
I’d rather not keep
Locked inside

Amen to this, Her.
It's indeed so much better to express than supress.
Dirty poetry hasn't find its way back (yet) but it's fucking awesome :-)

Thank you, D.
I’ll be waiting for the day it does, because girl, your poetry is already too sexy and enticing.

When people tell you, you can do better, it means they're jealous of what's right in front of them and they wish they were so free to express it.

Thanks, Gary
The world would be a much better place if people expressed themselves in a healthy manner.
Thank you for the RL add.

Certainly DUP is a good place to let off one's poetic steam. I liken writing my erotic poems in it to going on a nude beach, letting an unveiled side of yourself show.

I couldn't agree more. It is such a relief to explore the ever growing list of delights. Outside expectations can often be a soul killer, so it is nice to have that space to explore things we can't always share.

Amongst our own kind we are free to be our best selves.
Dirty words become "Holy" words when we focus on passion, intent, and connection instead of the words themselves.
I always love your ink

This poem is a powerful expression of self-discovery and reclaiming agency over one's own voice and expression. The use of "dirty poetry" as a cathartic outlet is vividly depicted, capturing the rawness and liberation that comes from embracing authenticity. The poet bravely confronts societal expectations and past inhibitions, asserting their right to self-expression without apology.
The journey towards self-acceptance and empowerment is palpable throughout the poem, as the speaker sheds the constraints of shame and fear, finding strength in their own truth. The declaration of "I do me better" reflects a profound self-assurance and defiance against external judgments.
Overall, this poem celebrates the transformative power of embracing one's authentic voice and finding liberation through self-expression. It resonates with a sense of triumph and empowerment, serving as a reminder of the importance of honoring and embracing our true selves.
