Remembering Michael

Many were loved by Michael.
  We remember the
    pleasures of his warm spirit,
the shape of his caring flesh, and his
    unwavering passion for life.

May we continue in his love,
  bringing to the present
what he lived in the past.

As we spread his ashes, let us
celebrate his life and express thanks
  for a thousand fleeting
  moments of ecstasy he knew
  and shared so well.

Author's Note
It healed my spirit to write a recent response for the death of a friend's mother, so I wrote this as if it were a prayer response for the death of a past lover. Michael and I spent a couple of months together in college before following different paths. I wish we had loved again before his death. Photo is edited from one Michael took of me during that time.
