The Ones I Love
If I had it my way
Before I’d leave this place
It would be to be surrounded by the ones I love
Because at the end of this journey
Nothing would be more perfect
Than to have a send off by the ones I love
If I had a choice
And be given the chance
I’d smile on my way out amidst tears and goodbyes
Because I’d feel in my heart
That I lived a good life
Feeling happy the road led to a peaceful demise
But most of all
If I had it my way
On my last day before I leave this place
Is to feel your caress
Like I have all these years
To close my eyes and for a last time
feel your hand on my face

Her and I are going on 22 years together, but best of all, we were friends first.
I've thought about this scenario often after my father passed away and none of us were around for him. I'd like to have a proper send off if given the chance, whenever that may be.
