Stella

         
Sad wise eyes      
showing me the way      
always winning our race      
no matter how much I'd cheat      
wind rippling her fur      
looking straight into my eyes      
flying past      
a jet stream of purpose and joy    
showing me in the vacuum of her passing      
how much fun it is to run      
hoping I'll race      
understanding my need to flee      
the fleas in my mind      
     
and simply      
be
