We often find our deepest selves when in the darkness. That's how we nurture that part of ourselves & grow. I love the line "But what if it's the best of me?" It really pulls it in tightly

There's an awful lot in this poem; I like it very much. Every experience contains vital information, somehow for our ultimate benefit - (deciphering it is another story). Epiphany moments though don't always have to come from painful experiences; yet strangely, maybe peversely, they often seem to be the ones that trigger the stronger 'Aha!' moments. All the best for 2024, Josh.

Thank you so much, I'm really glad you like it! I found this in a book from several years ago. (For all I know I might have already published it with a different title!) But it feels relevant, as I've just had a rather painful learning experience. Oh well, as you said... for ultimate benefit, I hope!

Tho I know myself the comfort of a self-cave, its too close to being a self burial as well.  You've too much light to give out, to remain too deep in the dim.
Get out of yourself and go thrive. It's what you're good at!  We've seen it.

I've been able to avoid the darkness for a little while, yet I know it's my shadow being I had it for so long. Some people mix in good with it. They find a way to comingle with it and find creativity. Whatever makes your boat float, I guess. :)
