Blossoms

I guess you could judge me by my appearance.
The puffy scars, the alien style, or the caked on eye liner.
The rugged outside shell of a budding flower
Is that all you see?

I guess you could pick at my temper.
See how long it takes for me to burst
One ugly, jagged layer of a budding flower
Is that what you see?

Perhaps you will see me, for who my friends are,
But not for whom I really am.
A beaten inner petal on a budding flower
Is this what you see?

Maybe, just maybe
You will be caring enough to try.
To see me for whom I am.
A beautiful, beautiful blossom
In need of a friendly push towards Spring.

But don’t expect a good reaction.
