Crimson Lady Bring Me Winter Gray
Crimson Lady, look at me,
Beneath your flickering tapestry,
Can you paint me a cloudy sky,
By which the summer flowers die?
I know with warmth, you fill this earth,
A gift of brilliance of untold worth,
But can you not sink away,
To let come forth the winter’s day?
Crimson Lady, your beauty bright,
Only illuminates my lack of light,
Overcast by a shattered soul,
Your warmth mocks what once was whole.
My hollowness, in your glow revealed,
But in winter’s chill, lies concealed,
I can’t help but feel lonely in your embrace,
For a broken heart in warmth has no place.
The summer that you bring to bloom,
Suffocates as though a tomb,
In winter gray I can shed my tears,
But the days of green bring only fear.
For none must see the tears I’ve bled,
Or see how truly I’ve been misled,
All of this I have to hide,
Their my faults I must abide.
I know my weakness is mine to bear,
But this burden winter always shares,
And the joy that your radiance brings out,
Only fills me with creeping doubt.
Crimson Lady, hear my plea,
Hide away and set me free!
So that I may fall into winter’s well,
My aching does the cold expel.
In winter I’ll lay my head so weary,
And embrace with a smile all that’s dreary,
His icy fingers will numb my pain,
A selfish desire I wish to gain.
So please, my Crimson Lady high,
Won’t you hush for winter’s sigh,
For in your glory, I find only sorrow,
Peace, not mine but only borrowed.
One day maybe, I’ll share the joy you bring,
And recite the words your light sings,
But for now, winter’s company is fine,
A world of quiet that is simply mine.
