A Handful of Seeds

She offered me some flower seeds,
from her poor and fragile hands,
to grow in my small garden,
beautify this lovely land.

I didn't want to take them,
without giving in return,
but she wouldn't accept my gifts,
just pay it forward as I learned.

I planted all the seeds,
and many flowers grew,
yellow gold and tall,
against a sky so blue.

I stopped by her house,
to tell her thanks once more,
But the angels had taken her away,
she didn’t live there anymore.

So I left a little packet,
full of flower seeds,
plant them if you will,
and preserve her loving memory.
