Wrong Number
“Hi”, the text came in from an unfamiliar number
“Who is this?” he replied a few minutes later
“It’s Kathy! I thought you saved my information”
“Sorry wrong number” he texted to dissuade her
“Oh I’m sorry to disturb your evening” she replied
“No worries” he said “it happens sometimes”
But out of custom he also added “have a nice night”
Something which he thought was just being polite
But then she responded with a picture of herself
“Thanks! Here’s a pic of me, where are you?”
And the old man nearly had himself a hard attack
The brunette was a knock-out with a really nice do
He sat there for a second remembering his youth
All those bars he visited when the ship came ashore
All the women who approached as he wore his uniform
But that was years ago, and now he’s not so sure
“I’m old enough to be”, he started but didn’t say it
Is she for real? Is it a bot? Are these new scam calls?
The old man stared at his phone then erased the picture
Because if the wife sees it she would cut off his balls
