Vampire Morning

The sun bled such golden bronze final light.
On what would be my last human night.
A fleeting warmth for those thoughts that fear
the moment when darkness descends.
Existential fright.
In my soul, lonely to the core of my every last bone.
My hardened heart, a heavy stone.
I wait alone.

He had no shadow.
He was the shadow.
The hunter of my dripping need.
Hungered with a centuries old greed.
And it consumed me with dark delight.
My rich blue veins with their agonizing ache
for his immortal bite.
