The Hastings Roar

Hear the roar
As honourable
As a lioness
With the same finesse
So fine
As empty shadows fall
From dusty walls
Of forgotten heroines
Obscured by those
That censored the books
That dug in the hooks
Of control
Yet the sweet song
Of equality lingers on
Poised, and poignant
As we
The women of Hastings
Adore the roar
Of equality
And being alive
As we thrive
With pride
Working together
Within our hive
