Self hatred is an exceptionally stupid practice
It's like siphoning fuel from your own car
Or throwing out your loaded plate
at the end of a sumptuous buffet line

Over guarding one's ego
Is wearing vise-like constrictive tight protective gear
with the insistence it is keeping you safe
It's an overzealous gatekeeper
turning away your own party guests

self hatred borrows from death
darkening one's life with each debit
wishing away days
that will be desperately
wished for later

Negativity
is that friend who seemed cool at first
but who has just become a bore
and that friend is you

negativity is tinder for your anger
do you really want to keep firing it up?

positive energy isn't canned sunshine
it's really very natural
it's you peeking out from the heavy cloak of damage
knowing you'll eventually be hurt again
but reveling in the sunshine
choosing to seize the day
