List #2: Ways to Suck

1. Text while driving, even though doing so claims the lives of over 3,000 Americans a year who are just trying to get to work or home to family. Shrug it off. Everybody does it.

2. Drink all of your water from single-use plastic bottles, even though a billion end up in the ocean every year, and fish try to mate with them.* Shrug it off. Everybody does it.

3. Leave your single-use plastic water bottles on the ground, in the park, wherever. No one is watching, so it doesn't matter. Integrity is spelled i-n-t. Never mind. Shrug it off. Everyone does it.

4. Pose your children for photo after photo at the park, then lose yourself in social media. Ignore your children's cries of "Mommy, watch! "Mommy, come play with us!" Caption the Instagram photos "Making memories with my babies!" Shrug off the fabrication. Everybody does it.

5.Drop your cigarette butts - still smoldering if you wish - on the ground, even though it causes toxic chemicals to leach into soil and water. Shrug it off. Everybody does it.

6. Leave your shopping cart in your parking space, even though it takes only moments to corral it. You needn't be inconvenienced. Everybody does it.

7. Leave barely closed bags of trash outside your apartment door in 117-degree heat. Everybody does it.

8. Recline your seat aaaaaaall the way back for an entire ten-hour flight. You know, like you're about to have dental work. There's no law against it. You have the right.

9. Go on a crowded sightseeing tour bus with a bad cold or the flu. Barely cover your persistent, deep, rich, mucosy cough. There's no law against it. You have the right.

10. Say" Everybody does it." or "I have the right" to justify any and all of your actions which harm others. You have the right. Everbody does it.

*I don't know if fish really try to mate with plastic water bottles, but it seems stranger things could happen.
