i must be insane
to live alone

others think
living in solitude
will make me crazy(er)

i’m not a loner
i have friends
and family
(at a distance)

i am not
lonely or sad
by myself

i have the company of plants and wild animals

i never deal with
religious reformers or politicians

salespersons
don’t knock
on my door

every sunrise
and set
reminds me of

my mortality
and my
immortality

i appreciate
blossoms
in spring

autumn colors
summer heat
winter silence

contrary to
urban
mythology

solitude
drives me
sane
