Moving out but not Moving on

Leaving home has quite a weird feeling.
Everything smells different,
All the corners feel empty and dark.
Vents still filled with the past residents air,
Intricate scars decorating the floors.
Nothing is familiar, yet
Grass still grows outside my window.

Helium balloons left over from my first party,
Open boxes lay across the counters.
Memories lay dormant, not created.
Everything is covered with a gentle mist of “new”

Author's Note
I'm off to college soon and thinking about what its going to be like in a new place with new people. Wish me luck!

Also I'm debating if the end should finish with “and “different”” but if you read on a phone it might bleed into a new line messing up the first letter thing I have going on. Lmk what I should do
