Hatter & Alice

Take it, please
It's not like life is pain
To be eased

i woke up today
and stared once again
into the mirror
we've grown to share
far too often, and now
i have to go

i left in the cold, in the night, in the still
out of sight, i could only sit on the bottom of the hill
i wondered why, i begged why, demanded why
it had to be this way, why this was the end to you and i
why my last memory was the look in your eyes

i have to go
i have to go

seems there's something more to this
but you just roll over and pretend this
is just another page to another chapter
written in a book, once finished, will no longer matter

i walked a thousand miles
and got back to where i left
you're the prison
i call home
and can never escape

i have to go

i stared into the corner
of a million possibilities
the darkness holds all the secrets
the light shows to be lies
i hate you

i have to go
i have to go

i know this will never end
we'll go on like this forever

pressing the keys, stroking a pen
working so hard to find a rhyme
lost in thoughts, echoing through our prison
we try to hide, but can't from the light

I can't stay

i am the hatter
delightfully mad in this world
of beautifully dull colors
waiting patiently
for alice to clumsily fall into my arms
being all i've left to give
since the red queen
cut out my heart
and ripped apart my sanity
long ago

You can't stay
You have to go
