He Doesn't Want GPS

He doesn't want GPS
Feels he can navigate fine on his own
Even though he frequently misses turns
and doesn't remember to use Maps on his phone
when driving somewhere new

Lack of intelligence isn't the problem
He's well educated
Well spoken
Respectable trajectory
in his professional career

He doesn't want GPS
even though late one night
on his drive from Tucson back to Phoenix
near to when he should have been home
he found he'd gone in the wrong direction
and was close to the border of New Mexico

Lack of money isn't the problem
He's financially stable
Well able to afford
one of the many inexpensive, portable GPS devices available

He doesn't want GPS
even though I've extolled their virtues
many times
Even though getting one,
would get me to stop nagging him about it

I want to upgrade my GPS
Not the one in my car,
but my internal one
I need to navigate my own roads
Avoid making wrong turns
Make sure I'm traveling in the right direction
and not attempt to steer anyone else's life
