Who we Once Were
It was always me and you.
You and me.
Together against the world.
Against all odds.
Through the toughest of times.
The worst enemies,
Those violent storms,
And our shared losses.
I had you,
And you had me.
Together.
We would stay together.
Then I lost you.
The storm pulled us apart,
And those demons pulled you in.
I always did have short arms.
Without you here,
there’s a hole.
I can’t see it,
But I know it’s there.
I searched for you,
I even found you.
But that wasn’t you.
Not the “you” I knew.
I hope you get better.
I hope I do too.
For now,
I have to carry myself.
You and me.
Together against the world.
Against all odds.
Through the toughest of times.
The worst enemies,
Those violent storms,
And our shared losses.
I had you,
And you had me.
Together.
We would stay together.
Then I lost you.
The storm pulled us apart,
And those demons pulled you in.
I always did have short arms.
Without you here,
there’s a hole.
I can’t see it,
But I know it’s there.
I searched for you,
I even found you.
But that wasn’t you.
Not the “you” I knew.
I hope you get better.
I hope I do too.
For now,
I have to carry myself.
