Ultraviolet Dreams (Sunburn)

Ultraviolet dreams...
Some want to embrace me
Others want to damage me
Not really sure which is which
Grew up way too fast
Vulnerable, naïve at times
But I am not sunscreen
You can’t smother me one day
Try to save me the next
I see through you
Do you see me too
Just take it slow
And let me know the real you
Same with me
We’ve only just met
A lifetime to burn
Stop your pre-conceived notions
Written on my pale skin
No lotions
No homilies
Just be you
That’s all I want
I’ll handle the protection
Leave it to me…
As you try to burn me alive

I have been burned so many times... Sometimes I just need some aloe and a gentle touch.
