Hearts in the Sand

Shimmering sunlight on the harbour
Sparkling like mischievous eyes
Laughter of seagulls, I think of your smile
Questions float on the wind and tide

Trees frame the places we used to walk together
Your footsteps are missing now
Life comes in waves, they just keep coming
We don’t get to ride them all

Lifetimes wash away like hearts drawn in the sand
You’re living in my memory
It’s gonna be alright
Lifetimes wash away like hearts drawn in the sand
You’re living in my memory
I’m gonna be alright

Sometimes we’re worn like stones on the beach
Rolling over and over and over again
Tides went on and on before us
They’ll go on and on after us

Lifetimes wash away like hearts drawn in the sand
You’re living in my memory
It’s gonna be alright
Lifetimes wash away like hearts drawn in the sand
You’re living in my memory
I’m gonna be alright
