I was still reeling, feeling feelings from the day before
Today some alternates are celebrating my father’s birthday
“You’ve got to help your daughter” this time TOTO advised
“She might commit murder so you better not go astray”

“What? How?” I asked as if waking up out of a trance
“Her abusive husband” he said “tonight she’s going over the edge
In this parallel world you’re currently in prison for embezzlement
But right now you need to save his life and that’s not a stretch”

“How am I in prison…” I began but as TOTO opened a portal
“This is the nearest parallel universe to the one where you died
The family is a broken but your daughter is suffering
Make sure to stop her from this mistake before she tries”

I came out on the other side in front of an apartment door
There was screaming coming from the inside, it was a fight
I pounded on the door so as to stop anything from escalating
When he opened the door his face was angry and pale white

“What the?” he started when she said “When did you get out?”
“Doesn’t matter” I said “you and I need to get out of here”
“She’s not going anywhere” that’s when I pulled out the pistol
“Back the fuck up” I told him and to her I said “let’s go dear”

She grabbed her coat and purse and we got into her car
“Where did you get a pistol” she said “and why are you out?”
“No time to explain” I said “now just give me your gun”
As I drove I noticed her gun was the same one I had without a doubt

She started crying and that’s when I saw her bruises
I put her pistol inside my pocket along with the other gun
But her psycho husband chased us in his truck, hitting us
Made us lose control and then the car skidded and spun

We crashed hard into a post right before the bridge
My brace got cracked then some buttons started blinking
She was in shock but ok then I noticed his truck coming
At that moment I had to do some quick thinking

I stepped out of the car with both guns pointing at him
The brace started flickering all kind of odd figures
I saw the look in his eyes as he revved his engine
But I was determined and was ready to pull the trigger

As I shot at his grill the portal opened up behind me
In disbelief he swerved and went over the rails into the river
His truck fell upside down and swept away by the cold waters
As my daughter looked on frightened she shivered

“What is that?” she said seeing the blue portal behind me
“There’s no time to explain” I said beginning to feel a pull
“You’re going to be OK” I said as tears ran down her face
When then the portal drew me in I fell back as if it was a pool

But the wormhole was icy cold and took a long time
It felt like I fell for an hour I was so scared I began to shout
When the portal opened up I landed on a steel corridor
Freezing, unable to breathe as I began to blackout

When I opened my eyes I had been placed in some kind of suit
I was able to breathe through a helmet but I felt light in the head
Through a window in the night sky the sun had turned to odd colors
It had strange swirls of orange and brown and white and red

A minute later a man opened a steel door and yelled “he’s awake”
“Why is the sun?” I started when I saw this astronaut in the room
“Welcome to Europa” he said through his helmet
“Europe?” I said
“Nope, Europa” he replied, “you’re on Jupiter’s moon”…
