The adventures of my younger self

The adventures of my younger self
still bring a wry smile,
parties full of artificial laughter,
excess, excess, excess the style.

The fakeness of intoxication,
go hard, or go home,
the inability to decline,
you know yourself, wink, when in Rome...

Swaying to the rhythm of my red bull addled heart,
skin rushing drowned in strobe light,
the unselfconscious flow,
dancing in the dark.

Enthusiastic meetings with afore enemies,
what a strange and wonderful drug,
brains buzzing with love explosions,
Apologies, the obligatory hug.

Simultaneously enchanted and repelled,
all nights end the same,
euphoric glow slowly ebbing,
here comes the fear, the walk of shame.

The adventures of my younger self,
Never forget, Never repent,
A life walked on the wild side
is a life well spent.

I was a bit of a hell raiser.... I miss it, I think about those times everyday.

The best of times, the worst of times, but I try not to regret...
