Haunted
Darkness falls
Hearts once intertwined now become torn apart
Those unbreakable bonds
Fly away languidly in the air amidst the trees
A stunning voice echoes
Memories are immersed and consumed by shadow
Faceless and obscured
Lingering
Lingering somewhere deep down within
But here we lie
Close to the roots where emotions stem
Disappearing in the forever unknown
Remembering
Remembering pain and sorrow
There is something so beautiful and sinister
When haunted by ethereal tones and notes from the past
Written in silence
Hidden in chords
Whispering softly in the night

Music holds such emotion. I love your opening metaphor in particular, the image establishes the tone of the piece, but each stanza holds an image that alchemically brings the presence of music across. I love the idea that the soul of music is hidden in the chords, whispering through.

This was a tough one to write, especially because the singer's voice is beautiful but it's also a little haunting in it's lyrics. You're right, music does have so much depth and emotion it really is a universal language.
