Out of Time
Like the billowing of the wind
Time continuously moves
Through us, constantly
Passing us by
Stealing our precious moments
Mending our old wounds
Aging us beyond our consent
Until we are but shadows and dust
(Gladiator shout out)
Every revolution around the sun
Every dawn and dusk of day
Every turning of the page
Leads us to this inevitable conclusion
It's unavoidable
It's certain to happen
It's the one fact of life
That everything that has a beginning
Has an end
(Matrix shout out)
For a moment of reflection
A hypothetical if you will
Given the opportunity
Would you do it all again?
Would you kiss your first kiss?
Would you choose your career?
Would you make the same life
Choices that brought you here?
Most wouldn't
They'd take one look at their past
And begin to think of all that they
Would change knowing what they
Know now
Make better decisions
Take better care of themselves
Kick bad habits at their source
Be better than they are now
But here's the important question:
Why wait?
What's stopping you from being
The person you want to be?
What immovable chains are
Locking you into this life that
Isn't what you want it to be?
Moments are fleeting
Minutes pass us by
Hours are lingering
Days are never long enough
Years add up at an alarming rate
You only live once
(Justin Bieber shout out?)
So don't let your life slip
Though your finger tips
Before you realize too late
That you're out of time
Time continuously moves
Through us, constantly
Passing us by
Stealing our precious moments
Mending our old wounds
Aging us beyond our consent
Until we are but shadows and dust
(Gladiator shout out)
