when death
contacts life
sorrow does fall
little teardrops
forming
emotional rainbows
for those
with close
attachments
it rips
hearts
out chests
in knowing
the coming end
its not any easier
on day of departure
shocking loss
still hits harder
we mourn
celebrate
their passing
sharing memories
that keep
them alive

This made me catch my breath. Still mourning the loss of my best friend in 2021. I finally joined a grief support group. And my mother has cancer for the fifth time. Stage 4 lung cancer metastasized to her spine this time. I think I’ll be reading this poem a lot.

My lovely friend... your poem is such a kind and considerate way to remember your colleague and friend. It really shows the wonderful depth of character the truly good soul you jokingly like to hide so well... But I know it's there and this is the written proof.

Sorry for your loss. I can really "feel" for you. It's all present here - the makings of a poet. You completely capture 4 examples of the loss and grieving stage in your 4 stanzas, with 4 separate meanings and examples, that are all relative. Not only that, but the emotion is palpable. There's a succinct sincerity to this. It's as though you've accompanied people to funerals before, as well as having gone through funerals of loved ones of your own. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
