The Dance

Night club and beer
bored to tears
until she started to dance
wild gyrating motions
strenuous and powerful devotion
to the pulsing sound
beating my mind down
she was a skier
that much plain to see
calling her sturdy so unkind
for her strong and willowy grind
she danced for an hour straight
never needing a mate
covered in sweat
certainly no coquette
caring for nothing but wild motion
and I wanted her bad
to hold her spirit in my hands
making her sweat just like the dance
to see myself in her glance
but I never had a chance
she was complete
and needed no man
and then she was gone
leaving memories in the dawn
