Yes, the class was a birthday gift from my sister - just a single session. It was fun to hang out with other poetry nerds for a few hours!

Hey not all poets are nerds! At least half are definitely not! And some, are wickedly fun and interesting! I use writing to calm my crazy ass down! Lol. Like it's a centering of things.
Besides, many of the so-called nerds are waiting for their moment to go boom! Then they don't look back. Lol

Haha! Perhaps the better word would be poetry "enthusiasts". I mean anyone who can 'nerd out' over poetry (not something that most of my friends do). I love people who get excited about their Thing, whatever that Thing may be! (I'm also part of a group called Nerd Fitness....)

Short poems tend to deliver a more powerful message, which makes the choice of words a little more difficult (at least for me). Music and singing sure invigorate the soul.

Yes, I like the challenge of short poems, making every word carry as much weight as possible. I think I'll probably try again to express this one better someday, but it was good enough for the few minutes they gave us to write something in the class...
