Honest question, what is an instagram poet? Is it a "thing" with characteristics, and what are the characteristics?

They are huge on Insta (also on Twitter) much to the dismay of hardworking scribblers like Shakespeare, Byron, Shelley, Keats, Charles Bukowski and myself.
They specialize in three line wonders which attract followers which in turn attracts advertising sponsors who pay them handsomely.
Alas I fear this reflects the future of poetry, appealing to a media savvy generation with the attention span of a gnat. Google will tell you more.

It's all communication to me. There will always be both room and demand for nuance. The people who are loving the three line poems are probably people who would never have indulged in other forms for poetry, and it may even lead some to a desire for a more expansive immersion into further forms of poetry, like the kind occasionally or often in varying degrees, depending on anyone's perspective, we find on here, our fair home DUP 😃😏 so advertising or no it's still a fair thing to behold, in my mind. I say kiss kiss to the potential of all. 😘😘
