Ashes

Do not forget your tongue my dear
when the anger in you swells
it is a fear within
that your hurt compels

Practice your compassion
when emotions are intense
let not your rage become
greater than your sense

You cannot raise the ashes
from last night’s fire storm
you cannot calm the hive
after the bees begin to swarm
