Stagnant

A trivial trial.
Her skin,
Stretching,
Spotted,
And slumping stagnant over Earth.

For each night marked a new year,
Where she could never sleep.

Even observers,
Have doubts of worthiness
In the gallant giver’s story.

Curled up in closets, the shadows
Enveloping her,
Caressing her.
Distance of kin
Too close to even consider her.

Why, out of all,
Do we move on, the way we do?

Where are the blessed words,
To describe the silence’s sound?

Slipping away soundlessly,
So slowly,
Down into the gutter.

I harvest the tears for the next years’ drought.
