The sound of silence
I tought the library would be a place
To shield you from all the noise
Not so. At times, a good deal of yapping....
A difference to my place of living
A block of maybe thirty apartments
On my floor.....total quiet.
Really.
Ok, sometimes people use the laundry room next door
But otherwise: total quiet
Not a sound to disturb the peace
Unless I turn on the TV and let the world invade.

It's interesting because libraries (and sometimes an empty church) would be thought of places where people walk around with reverence for the stillness. I haven't been in a library in year or so, but I always enjoyed the smell of old books and walking around looking at the cataloged numbers to find the thing I was looking for. But technology has changed all that.
