Fleeting Glances

The light outside may be bright and warm
But the room in here is dark and cool
Reminiscing on embraces
Silly faces
Coy smiles and fleeting glances
The moments have slipped away

In the countless photographs
The memory of her kiss lingers in the heart
Like a cold fire
Where desire and yearning still burn
Far off in the distance
Waiting for the chase to begin again

And though the ember is smaller
The blue flame is hotter
Closer to the core
Something that water cannot quench
Embedded deep in fantastic fantasies
And erotic nightmares
Waiting to awake from sleep

There is a surge underneath the surface
Anticipating changes
Like cracks in the dam
Damned but it’s bound to be good
Just don’t be in the path
When the words flow again

For now
The room will stay dark and cool
Reminiscing on those coy smiles
And fleeting glances
