Hiding from the very thing I thought I wanted most

It feels safe here
A gentle escape from fame
My disguise working well
Even the guy at the Deli on the corner
Didn't pay me no mind

I asked for hazelnut instead of regular
It smells great but taste is often lacking
The story of my life wraps around coffee
I tried so hard to achieve greatness
Now hiding from the very thing I thought I wanted most

Everyone wants a piece of your privacy
Selling my soul for headlines was a mistake
I couldn't have known then, to busy with my arrogance
Shit, he put sugar in my coffee
Guess he saw I needed some sweetening up
